Junior Tennis
Welcome to The Excellence Tennis Academy. Our philosophy of “get better every day,” is delivered through the latest teaching methods by top-level professional coaches. Whether a beginner or professional, we are committed to offering a full pathway for your tennis development. We are fortunate to be supported by The Excellence Tennis Foundation and Five Seasons Sports Clubs. With their support we are able to offer some of the lowest priced training in the country, as well as scholarships to a majority of our players.
Tournament Player Programs
Players who are ranked USTA tournament players or top Varsity High School players. The program features weekly themes, intense physical training and has helped produce numerous collegiate players and professionals.
High School Clinic
Players competing on their junior high or high school tennis teams, looking to make big improvements to their game before the next school season.
E "Earn your X" Orange and Green Ball Class
These are players who are interested in pursuing the tournament pathway. Typically players ages 6-12.
Adult Tennis
Programs focus on tennis fundamentals. Learn the game and begin playing immediately in a fun and social environment.
Drill and Play Options
Our Drill and Play clinics consist of weekly themed practices with emphasis on double tactics, strategy and situational point play.
Clinics: Senior Drill & Play, Men’s Night, Hit Clinics, Round Robin, Cardio Tennis, Pickleball.

Tennis Director, USPTA Certified
Shawn Barone
Shawn has been Tennis Director at Five Seasons since 2014, serving as Junior Director at the Cincinnati location before relocating to Kentucky. Shawn was the Head Tennis professional at Kenwood Country Club prior to joining the Five Seasons team. He is the head tennis coach at Thomas More University for the men’s and women’s teams. He previously coached at Northern Kentucky University and University of Dayton. Shawn also played 4 years at Northern Kentucky University.

Ru Jayasuriya
Ru has been a USPTA Elite professional since 2005. He was a high performance coach in CARE academy in Chicago and at the Five Seasons Cincinnati Club. He has served as the Junior Director, Adult Director and Tennis Director at Five Seasons NKY, giving him the experience to teach all ages and abilities of juniors and adults.
Ru was a four-year scholarship athlete at Morehead State University where he graduated with his bachelors and masters degrees in addition to being the assistant coach for both men’s and women’s tennis teams. Ru is originally from Sri Lanka where he was a nationally ranked junior and represented the Sri Lankan Davis cup team in 1996-1997.

Jeffrey Schenk
Jeffrey graduated from Highlands High school in 2017, where he was a two-time regional Champion and State participant. He was a 4-year starter at Thomas More University, where he played line 1,2, and 2 singles and line 1 and 2 doubles. He earned a conference ring and birth into the National Division III championships.

USPTA Certified
Lyndsey Molony-Maynard
Lyndsey is a certified USPTA Elite Professional and Head Tennis Coach at Notre Dame Academy. Lyndsey has been teaching tennis for over 20 years, and has coached Notre Dame to win multiple Regional Championships and State runner up. Lyndsey’s career highlights include being inducted into the Northern Kentucky High School Hall of Fame and the Notre Dame Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, playing in the WTA Western & Southern, 7 Cincinnati MET Championship Titles, NCAA Div 1 doubles ranking of #27, Career Record Holder at the University of Cincinnati for most doubles wins, 3rd in combined wins at UC, Conference USA All Conference team, Doubles State Champion, 2 time Team State Champion, State Singles Runner-up, and NKY Player of the Year.

Ronnie Griffin
Ronnie is a 3-time California Southern Section champion. After being undefeated his last 3 high school seasons with a perfect 90-0 record, he continued to play 4 years collegiately for Monmouth at the #1 singles and #1 doubles spots. While at Monmouth, he had one of the top 5 all time tennis records in most match wins in a season, longest match win streak, and most career match wins. He studied kinesiology with an emphasis is biomechanics. Since then he has been coaching full time with Match Play Tennis Academy before making the move to Five Seasons Kentucky.

Aaron McDowell
Aaron is a former all conference player at Northern Kentucky University where he earned his degree in Recreation Fitness and minored in Health Education. Aaron also was the Northern Kentucky University assistant coach in 2001. He has coached previously at Turpin High School 2002-2011 and was named Fort Ancient Valley Conference coach of the year six of 10 seasons that he coached. Prior to Five Seasons Aaron was a full time professional at Beechmont Racquet and Fitness Club for 17 years.
Aaron has also been the Head Pro at Anderson Hills Swim and Tennis Club, Village of Mariemont Tennis, and Miami Hills Swim and Tennis Club. Aaron enjoys teaching all levels from young to old. He has a unique passion for the sport and is always excited to be on the court. Aaron has competed at the National Father Son Clay court championships and most recently finished second place in the 2019 Winter Indoor Mens 35 tournament.
